Annual Report 2024–25 — Dr. Prakash Barjatia, GB Member & Director – Education & Training

Journey of ISLE

The journey of ISLE started with the presentation of a paper on Head Lights & Road Safety in PRAKASH 1991 — the International Conference on Lighting Technology organised by ISLE at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. This led to joining ISLE in 1992 as Fellow Member, and taking the initiative of starting Pune Local Centre.

Post retirement in 2001 from CIRT, Pune, Dr. Barjatia was elected to the Managing Committee of Mumbai State Centre in 2003. Subsequently, from 2003 to 2011, he shared responsibilities as Chairman and was instrumental in activating Indore Local Centre and upgrading it to M.P. State Centre.

With an idea of promoting Future Lighting Professionals, the concept of Student Chapter was mooted way back in 2006 with the formation of the first Student Chapter at College of Engineering, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. Today there are 20 Student Chapters across the country in Engineering / Architecture colleges with more than 1,000 Student Members.

Since 2011, sharing responsibilities as Governing Body Member, and assigned with additional responsibilities as Director – Education & Training. After election to GB in 2024, again assigned with the additional responsibilities as Director – Education & Training.

Activities as GB Member

Although it is difficult to segregate the role of a GB Member and the additional responsibility as Director – Education & Training, an effort has been made to highlight a few activities performed as GB Member, in addition to Education & Training activities.

Activities as Director – Education & Training
