Quarterly Report (April – July 2026) — Dr. Prakash Barjatia, GB Member & Director – Education & Training
A. Educational Activities
With the support of Mr. Harsha Joshi, President – ISLE, and active participation of ISLE members from Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Karnataka Centres, the following activities were conducted during the first quarter of 2026–27 (April – July 2026).
1. Advanced Lighting Solutions Workshop — 9 April 2026
BN College of Architecture, Pune — Organised by the Department of Environmental Architecture. Addressed by Mr. Aditya Kumar. ~50 students participated, along with LD Mr. Kaustubh Nandurbarkar and LD Mr. Chaitanya Sthalekar.
2. New Student Chapter — FCRIT Vashi (24 April 2026)
With initiative from Mr. Harsha Joshi and guidance from Dr. Prakash Barjatia, 28 new Student Members and one Faculty Life Member joined. Presided by Rev. Fr. Peter D'Souza. Participants included Dr. Prakash Barjatia, Mr. Harsha Joshi, and Dr. K. Naveen.
3. Student Chapter — Sapthagiri NPS University, Bengaluru (15 May 2026)
Inaugurated with initiative from Mr. Arshi Krishnachar, Chairman, Karnataka State Centre. Mr. Harsha Joshi, President – ISLE, participated.
4. Student Chapter — Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Architecture, Pune (21 May 2026)
Presided by Dr. Asmita Jagtap. 36 new Student Members and one Life Member. Prof. (Dr.) Kavita Murugkar highlighted industry–academia collaboration.
5. One-Week Program on Lighting in Architecture (13–17 July 2026)
Bharati Vidyapeeth DU, College of Architecture, Pune — Under LD Mr. Kaustubh Nandurbarkar and coordination by Ar. Swapnali Sutar. 40+ Graduate/PG students. Online/offline lectures plus visits to manufacturing units, experience centres, and studios.
6. Student Chapter — St. Vincent Pallotti, Nagpur
With initiative from Mr. Bharat Kalambhe, Hon. Secretary, Nagpur Local Centre — second Nagpur Student Chapter with 33 Student Members and 1 Life Member.
B. Standardisation Activities
As nominee on BIS committees, participated in the following meetings:
- 29 April 2026 — TED 11 (10:00–11:00 Hrs.): Panel to formulate draft document for retro reflective tapes
- 7 July 2026 — ETD 49 (07:30–09:50 Hrs., Sweden timing): 15th Meeting — Illumination Engineering and Luminaires Sectional Committee
- 8 July 2026 — TED 11 (07:00–10:00 Hrs., Sweden timing): 36th Meeting — Automotive Electrical Equipment and Instruments Sectional Committee
